The Studio Dollhouse @ RingWorthy

I can't remember a time when I wasn't drawing and sculpting, but I sold my first work at around 11 years old and by junior high was exhibiting art in competitions and selling my works. I was nominated to the North Carolina Governor's School in art before attending East Carolina University to study Commercial Art and Design. I left college to take an apprenticeship position with an advertising agency where I gained hands on experience creating art and design for pre-press, as well as logo design. This experience led me to a few years as a freelance illustrator, where I learned about the business of collaborating with a client to bring a project from idea to fruition.

Outside of commercial art for sales and marketing, I continued to pursue fine art, and have created a number of portraits of dogs and horses, as well as human subjects. In the 1970s I began to breed and exhibit purebred dogs and my love of animal portraiture in painting and sculpture grew. In addition, I enjoy using my layout skills to create custom advertising for clients. Such was my involvement in the dog fancy, that I was the president of 2 AKC dog clubs and served on the board of a national breed club, as well as being an obedience instructor. Always in love with clay, my interest in creating sculptural art depicting animals drew me into becoming an instructor of ceramic art, both functional and decorative works.  But my first and enduring love is the painted canvas, both oils and acrylic, with a bit of watercolor thrown in.

RingWorthy means "worthy for competition" and I adopted the name in 2006 to encompass both my love of exhibiting purebred dogs and creation of art. It has been my great pleasure to work with many clients in creating lasting family heirlooms destined to be passed down through generations.
